Magnific

Magnific is an AI creative image enhancement tool run by Freepik. It is positioned very differently from traditional pixel-interpolation upscalers — instead of merely enlarging an image, it regenerates detail from semantics, conjuring textures, edges, and materials that were never in the source. The product was created by Spanish founders Javi López and Emilio Nicolás in November 2023, acquired by Freepik in May 2024, and on April 28, 2026 Freepik fully rebranded to Magnific; the Freepik site's design, template, and video assets folded in as well.

Core capabilities revolve around two upscale modes. Creative mode is built for illustrations, 3D renders, and game concept art: the AI reimagine details under prompt guidance, controlled by four sliders — Creativity, HDR, Resemblance, and Fractality — alongside 13 "Optimized For" content presets (soft/hard portrait, illustration, nature, landscape, 3D, cinematic, sci-fi, horror, and more), with output up to 10,000 x 10,000 pixels. Precision mode is for photos, product shots, and print assets — up to 16x lossless upscale, focused on faithful reproduction. Typical processing completes within 30 seconds; 4K outputs can take 10-15 minutes.

Pricing is fully paid: the free tier only imposes a daily generation cap, while paid tiers run on a credit system. Premium+ is $33.75 per month (billed annually) with 600,000 credits per year and unlimited generation on most image models. Pro is $99 per month (billed annually) with 4,000,000 credits per year and unlocks the commercial AI license plus the Merchandise license for physical product sales. Business team plans start at 45,000 credits per seat per month. Magnific also ships an API via docs.magnific.com billed by credit.
