Recraft

Recraft was founded in London in 2022 by machine learning scientist Anna Veronika Dorogush — the creator of CatBoost and a former head of ML systems at Yandex — and publicly launched on Product Hunt on May 31, 2023. It is the first generative AI platform built specifically for professional designers. The core differentiator is simultaneous raster and infinite-scale true vector (SVG) output, paired with brand-style controls (color palette, geometry, line treatment).

Core capabilities revolve around Recraft's proprietary foundation model family. The V4 line was released in February 2026; V4 Pro outputs 1024+ resolution and structured layouts (posters, menus, signage) while preserving vector-level geometric precision. Recraft Studio is the browser-based infinite-canvas editing workbench — up to 4 images per prompt, inpainting and outpainting for local edits, custom-style upload with auto-learning, raster-vector conversion, and mixing with external models (including GPT Image, FLUX, and other fal.ai lines). What commercial users care most about is style consistency plus coherent sets — eight on-brand illustrations, e-commerce icons, social-media assets, and poster layouts can be produced without manual stitching.

Use cases include brand visual identity systems, multi-asset social media sets with consistent style, packaging and advertising vector illustrations, product icon sets, e-commerce detail pages, and vector assets for marketing posters. The free tier is permanent but generated images belong to Recraft and are public; paid tiers unlock commercial licensing, private generation, and access to V4 Pro. The API is available on fal.ai, Replicate, and Prodia on a per-call basis. Funding: a $12M Series A led by Khosla Ventures in January 2024; the team has stayed lean at 13 people.
