Perchance AI

Perchance is a personal project maintained by developer Martin O'Leary (handle rollwithit), with roots going back to 2017. It started as a small script sandbox for tabletop RPG players, writers, and game designers to build "random list generators" — users write simple indented text in a minimalist syntax and the engine picks at random, producing fantasy names, interstellar planet descriptions, dungeon loot tables, and the like. Stable Diffusion support landed in 2023, and through 2024 the project added AI image generators (v2, v3, Realistic, Professional, Advanced variants), AI story generators, AI character chats, AI Human generators, AI text generators, and AI lyrics / limerick / joke generators.

Core capabilities are built on a single absolute premise: zero friction. No login, no credit card, no paid tier, no daily quota, no watermark, no minimum resolution lock — the only operational costs come from a few small ads at the bottom of the page and donations. What makes it stand out is the open platform: any user can build a generator in the platform's lightweight scripting language and publish it for others — Perchance is a container of tools, not a single product. Most AI features run Stable Diffusion 1.5, SDXL, and SD 3.5 client-side in the browser via WebGL/WebGPU, so prompts and images never leave your device.

Use cases include everyday inspiration sketches (zero cost per try), learning Stable Diffusion prompting without owning a local GPU, fast social-media avatar experimentation, random inspiration exploration, and RPG asset generation. It is not suited to professional deliverables — output tops out around 512x768px with no ControlNet, LoRA, or inpainting support.
